In my work with clients, we often meet a very active self-critical part in the room who finds it difficult to extend warmth, acceptance, empathy and curiosity towards what the client is feeling, thinking, doing or experiencing in life. Self-compassion is the "obvious" response to that self-critical part of us; and yet, it can be incredibly difficult to adopt the same standard of warmth, acceptance, empathy and curiosity that we more easily extend to others, to ourselves. This article is a great prompt for you to reflect on your own self-critical part, and what gets in the way of responding to your self with compassion.
